Judy Adams has been a working ceramist since the early 1980s. With a BFA in Ceramics and a BA in Art Education she has pursued the dual mission of creating in clay and teaching the joy of art to others.

She moved to Houston, TX from Columbus, OH in 1984 and work as an art educator in area schools for several years. Leaving the stability of a full-time career as a private school after-school program director, Adams became a self-employed artist and co-owner of Foelber Pottery Gallery & Studio in Houston’s historic arts district. With her partner, John Foelber, she developed an adult beginner pottery course, team-building program, and summer children’s classes that became a blueprint for ceramic teaching studios throughout the country.

She has been a fierce advocate of area small businesses, a mentor to countless artists and entrepreneurs, a curator, and a successful artist. 

Judy Adams’ pieces can be found in private collections and business settings throughout the United States. Commissioned mural pieces are located in the Texas Medical Center and Duchesne Academy. Her work has been photographed in interior settings for various publications including the cover of Luxe Magazine Gold List Issue Jan/Feb 2025. A recent accolade was receiving “Best Sculpture” at the exhibit “Four Elements: A Ceramic Dialogue with Earth, Water, Fire and Air” Fall 2025 (Monterroso Gallery, Houston, TX).
