This exhibition showcases artwork by Judy Adams, Lotus Bermudez, Marsha Dorsey-Outlaw. Each piece dictates a period of time, a shared experience, or a cherished moment that reflects their lives as artists, mothers, daughters, and community leaders in Houston, Texas. Shared Ground provides a topographic understanding of these moments, with each artwork’s careful construction guiding the viewer’s comprehension of the larger whole. The works selected for this exhibition span the course of three decades and show the evolution of artistry as well as the transference of memory within the studio. Some works have been shown before, while others are being seen for the first time. Each piece is imbued with not only the soil of our shared ground, but the soul of each artist, bringing diverse yet interwoven artistic journeys together for this defining moment.
